Sweetmates: Overwhelmingly Appetizing

Sweetmates Cakes…

Sweetmates

It’s quite fitting that after ‘Our Anniversary’ feature-story for a sort of a “main course” for such occasion, there’s a subsequent dessert for a “concluding meal” to substantiate “our sweetness”. Along the real course of this “OA” site, we’re actually eager to once again contradict each other. (As if our respective versions of “our love story” weren’t “faithfully” synchronized apparently proving opposites do attract…) But to rather conclude our 7th wedding anniversary celebration with a dessert, we were at as much as we are “Sweetmates”.

How fitting and timely indeed that we got to extend our celebration in a cozy place where accordingly it has been a patronized venue for dating ever since. Rightfully, quite a number of marriage proposals took place at Sweetmates (Legarda branch – they have several branches around Baguio). How its name be-compatible with such memorable occurrence as well as it being a comparable term for the “engaged couples” may have something to do with it… But for some rational “brew and blend”, it’s most likely because of the same essence for a recipe of Sweetmates’ cakes and pastries.

Cream Puff

To confirm just the right combination for an appropriate validation of how “OA” “A” and I are, we each indiscriminately ordered different drinks and desserts. “A” ordered the ‘Choco Mint Java Chill’ and a Cream Puff (It’s the biggest and best cream puff by the way!) whereas I had the ‘Brownie Java Chill’ and a Tiramisu Cake.

Preferably and as I really like it, I would have ordered the cream puff. While for “A”, she would have “cherished” to have my “sweetness” back as she has recently been complaining of not feeling and getting the same thoughtfulness and attention from me… And as if I were the cake I ordered, it was bitter-sweet.

Ironically, while we were savoring our treats, I teased her how we were like having each other considering the texture and flavor of what we were eating. She was enjoying the big cream puff’s subtle sweetness and soft consistency… I was indulging myself with the bitter-sweetness and moisture of the tiramisu cake.

Consequently, I realized how creamed, puffy and puffed I could be forgetting to be the “cream puff” she wants me to be. And I’ve been too consumed by how bitter she is and not fully appreciating how she could be sweet during times that matter. In a fleeting (and fitting) taster, “Tiramisu” seemed to be a “complementary mixture” of “Tira” (bash) and “miss you”…

To rather drown such snag and gulp our pride, her Choco Mint Java Chill proved to be like her – refreshing! And perhaps my Brownie Java Chill reminded me to (well) (chill my brown ‘@$$’ lol!). Having sipped some “thirst-quenching” insights, we’re cool!

Cooler though is Sweetmates! As cool as their personalized service, perchance you’d encounter the owners themselves to be serving you what sweet is all about…
